Child sexual abuse is likely the most prevalent
health problem children face, with the most serious
array of consequences. In fact, 1 in 10 children will
experience sexual abuse before their 18th
birthday. This means that whether you work with
youth, are a parent, or are simply a member of a
community, it is highly likely that someone you
know or care for has experienced, or is currently
experiencing, child sexual abuse. It’s going to
happen whether you are prepared to deal with it or
not – unless you stop it from happening. And the
good news, it can be stopped.

The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is the nation’s largest wartime veterans service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans.
The American Legion’s success depends entirely on active membership, participation and volunteerism. The organization belongs to the people it serves and the communities in which it thrives.
